A Letter to Neale: What matters is What One Desires

Reader question:

Dear Neale...In The Only Thing That Matters you wrote that the top priority in our lives should be “what one desires.” Do you really think that god really is concerned with What One Desires? Look at cosmos and what a tiny speck each one of us is with our so serious concerns and desires. Volcanoes, black holes exploding stars etc and Microdot Mike I don't understand how any of us is so significant to god. I do not assign you responsibility for convincing me either. but what you've written and said is darn interesting. I mattered to the Optimist club today playing fiddle at their cleanup streets BBQ day, but to the universe??
Mike

Neale Responds:

Dear Mike, It is clear to me that you may wish to read the book more closely. You have completely misunderstood the phrase "what one desires," thinking that it means what each individual on Earth desires. It means nothing of the sort. I suspect that you have not read the entire book, or you could not have written what you wrote above. "What One desires" refers to what God desires, Mike. God is the ONE that is referred to in this part of the book.

God and we are One. All things are One Thing. There is only One Thing, and all things are part of the One Thing there is. So what matters in life, Mike, is what One desires. That is, what the Whole, that we often call God, desires. And what is that, Mike? It is that you express and experience your Self as Who You Really Are. You are an Individuation of Divinity, and God’s only desire is that you, and all of Life, might know this in your experience.

I send my love and all good thoughts to you, Mike.

Yours in service
