Daily Thought

Whatever you cause another to experience, you will one day experience. What you fail to do for another, you fail to do for you. What is good for another is good for you, and what is bad for another is bad for you.

- Book Two p 67

FREE Books Program

Formerly known as Books For Friends, this program was founded in 1995 when a prisoner wrote Neale asking for a free copy of Conversations with God. In his September 1995 newsletter, Neale enlisted the help of his readers by asking them to consider donating to someone less fortunate. The response was overwhelming and to this day readers who have been inspired by the messages of CwG, seek to make this same inspiration available through gifts of books and donations for books and postage.

We now call this the Free Books Program because it is not only for prisoners, but for all those who, because of temporary circumstances, are not able to purchase them for themselves. Prisoners and others who can't afford these books are forever grateful for your generosity.

If you would like to receive a free copy of a CwG book, please send us an email at

booksforfriends@cwg.org

If you would like to help support this program, when you are done reading your book, you could mail it to us at the address below. But if you don't want to part with it (as we can well understand, because who would?), please buy a copy from your local used book store, or from any online sellers--such as Amazon. Many of the books can be bought for pennies on the dollar. This is, in some ways, more valuable to us than money.

Prison Outreach Program

The mission of the Prison Outreach Program is to share the message of the Conversations with God books with people in jails and prisons, places of darkness where its light is most needed. We all dream of a better world, a place of peace and safety where we would all be free to become our next highest version of our Selves. It is our goal to empower prisoners to live the CwG message so that they can become the next highest version of themselves and, by doing so, effect change in their own world.

This program consists of:

Free Books.

  • Hundreds of books are sent every year to prisoners who are re-examining their lives and are ready to make some profound changes. For many of them their time in prison is a time of questioning, an inner quest for their own truth, a search to understand where their lives went wrong. A little support from us can make a huge difference to them.

Study Groups in prisons:

  • Many prisoners choose to start CwG study groups in prisons. We send them a packet of information to help them set those up and, of course, we make sure all participants receive their own books to work with as well as Study Guides if the facilitator so wishes.

Letters and Emails

  • Many prisoners are cut off from outside contacts as family and friends very often distance themselves from the prisoners. Connecting with people outside of prison is one of the most precious things that they miss. We believe this personal contact is incredibly important in order to stay connected to our own humanity. This is why part of the Prison Outreach Program consists of answering as many personal letters and emails as possible.

Freedom Inside

  • Started in 2001, Freedom Inside is a newsletter that is based on the CWG material and is sent free of charge to anyone interested. It is written for prisoners and includes many articles and letters received from prisoners. Freedom Inside's mailing list started at around 50 in 2001 and has grown to close to 1000 prisoners today. It is our hope that Freedom Inside will eventually become a monthly newsletter.

At this point, we send it out when funds allow, which is every few months. With the help of generous donors, we will be able to become a monthly publication.
