Notes from Neale...

My dear friends...

Last week in this space I asked an intriguing question. Why am I constantly making the "smaller choice?" Given that every act is an act of self-definition, and that every moment is a Moment of Decision, why am I constantly choosing the smaller me?

I said last week that I believe it is because I do not really believe that God lives in me, as me, but only want to believe that. I want to think it's true, but I am not sure that it is true-and I am in some ways afraid to find out.

Our invitation from life is to bring an end to that fear. What this takes is an agreement with ourselves. An agreement never to deny ourselves our True Identity - even when everything in the space and everything in the world looks like it is telling us the opposite. Indeed, everything will tell us the opposite. It must. That is the role of the Law of Opposites.

When we understand this we not only fail to recoil when the opposite of our Identity appears, we actually expect it... knowing that we invited it.

The latest CwG book, Happier Than God, tells us that the Law of Opposites is the second of the five great Principles of Life and it works in perfect harmony with the Energy of Attraction. This principle states that no sooner will you call something into your reality than its exact opposite will also appear-and always first.

What is this now? What am I saying?

I am saying that the moment you choose anything-any outcome, object, or experience-the exact opposite of that will come into your life in some way. It may show itself in some far distant quarter, or it may pop up right in front of your eyes, but it will be there, absolutely.

It is necessary for the "opposite" of whatever you are choosing to create with the Energy of Attraction to show up, for the reason that life cannot be experienced in a vacuum. A context must be produced in which you may experience what you have chosen.

Because not many people know this, they can easily turn negative in their thinking just when the universe was preparing to place before them all that their hearts desired.

They do not see the appearance of the opposite as a sure and certain sign that they are on the right path, heading toward their chosen objective. Rather, they see it as an obstacle, a blockage.

They experience themselves to be up against the wall, when really they are standing in front of a doorway. Only discernment would allow them to know the difference. This is where the Gift of Wisdom comes in (which will be explored momentarily).

The Law of Opposites is based on the fundamental and founding principle of all life: "In the absence of that which you are not, that which you are is not."

I know, I know, that's not a very clear sentence. Let me clarify. Let's say, for the purposes of illustration, that you wish to experience yourself as "the light." (Many people, by the way, have actually chosen this. They wish to be The Light-and thus to bring The Light-wherever they are, wherever they appear.)

Now let us imagine for the purposes of this illustration that there is nothing else around you but The Light-indeed, that there is nothing else in existence but The Light. This would make it impossible to experience yourself as The Light. You may "know" yourself as that, but you cannot "experience" yourself as that.

(There is a difference between knowing and experiencing, and it is experiencing what it knows itself to be for which the soul yearns.)

There is only one way to experience yourself as The Light, and that would be to find yourself in darkness. Yet remember, in this example there is no "darkness." In this illustration, there is nothing but The Light. You, therefore, must create the darkness. You must call it forth. And you will.

This is the Law of Opposites, which gives you opportunity. Yet if you see the opposite not as opportunity but as opposition, you will see it not as something that empowers you, but as something that takes power away from you. You will fall into negative thinking, not understanding that you, yourself, have used the Energy of Attraction to draw to you the darkness as well as the light (what you would call "negative," as well as what you would call "positive," outcomes) in order to fully experience the positive outcomes that you are creating.

There is power in opposites, and this is the intricate way in which attraction works with all the great principles of life. Those principles work in concert with each other; they function as a perfect mechanism-the Mechanism of Manifestation-like gears in a finely tuned watch.

What are we to do, then, when the Law of Opposites seems to be thwarting, rather than supporting, Personal Creation?

Understand exactly what is going on.

Endeavor to see the appearance of the "opposite" as your first indication that Personal Creation is working flawlessly. Remember that the first step in creating anything is creating a context within which it may be experienced. Do not resist the opposite of anything that you wish to experience. Instead, embrace it. Look right at it and see it for what it is.

What you resist, persists. That is because, by your continued attention to it in a negative way, you continue to place it there. You cannot resist something that is not there. When you resist something, you place it there. By focusing angry or frustrated energy on it, you actually give it more life.

This is why all great masters have urged us to "resist not evil." Do not fight that is which opposite to your stated desire or your preferred outcome. Rather, relax into it.

(Much of the above narrative is an excerpt from Happier Than God, the latest book in the CwG cosmology that is creating quite a stir. The book explains why the Law of Attraction sometimes does not work as we had intended... and tells the complete story of how to partner with God in a more consistent creation of our desired reality.

Explained in the book are the five great principles of life...

1. The Energy of Attraction, which gives you power.

2. The Law of Opposites, which gives you opportunity.

3. The Gift of Wisdom, which gives you discernment.

4. The Joy of Wonder, which gives you imagination.

and,

5. The Presence of Cycles, which gives you eternity.

Also explored is the Mechanism of Manifestation, and 17 Steps to being Happier Than God. This exciting book, HAPPIER THAN God: Turn ordinary life into an extraordinary experience, may be ordered now from Amazon.com. The book is only a month old, having just been published.

Just follow this link and place your order at Amazon's discounted price of $12.95...

I wish you good reading!)

Memo from Marion...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello my friends:
I want to talk this week about the Foundation and what we're up to in the world.
First I'd like to share with you the sad fact that we had to cancel our Tampa retreat, originally scheduled for April. Enrollments were not high enough to justify taking a workshop staff all the way across the country. So, we'll miss getting to meet the anticipated group of new friends. We wish we could afford to make these presentations anywhere, but the Foundation just does not have the funds to present out-of-state retreats on the East Coast unless we have a good enrollment base. This year, that didn't happen.
In order for us to continue offering our programs, all of which seek to place the message of Conversations with God more deeply into our world, we'll need more funds from participants and contributors. If you've ever considered becoming a monthly contributor, now would be a great time to do that.
Every year around this time we undertake an annual fundraising drive and try to boost our monthly contributor base. As you may know, the Foundation is a tax-exempt 501c3 non-profit organization. We are supported primarily through individual contributors -- people just like you who feel the work of the Foundation and the messages of Conversations with God have great merit, and who feel they benefit from what we offer free of charge, are often moved to contribute. Are you such a person?
While Neale, as the author of CwG, contributes an enormous amount of his time each year to the work of making the messages of his books accessible to as many people as rapidly as possible, he must divide his time and resources between this foundation, Humanity's Team, the School of the New Spirituality, and The Group of 1000. The largest portion of our financial support must therefore come from folks such as you.
Our contributors support the production of the free Weekly Bulletin that you are now reading, much of our web presence, scholarships filling up to 20% of the spaces in both our Retreat and Education programs, our free book program "Books for Friends," the God's Pen Pals Program, and our new CwG Providers Network. Without contributors we couldn't do what we do and we couldn't reach so very many people around the world who are less fortunate, touching them with the message of Conversations with God.
I hope you will opt in now and become a Monthly Contributor click here. To be a One-Time Contributor click here. Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity.
This coming week we are launching the new CwG Provider Network. I spoke about this briefly a few weeks ago, but it's almost here and you'll get an email about it being up and live this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we hit out launch date of April 1, but if not I assure you it will be up before the next bulletin.
For those of you that don't know, the CwG Provider Network is a new program of the Foundations that will give people who are out in the world teaching and sharing the CwG material an outlet to share what it is they're doing, how they are combining their passions with the CwG information, whether it be a CwG group on relationships, or CwG Grief and Loss Coaching, etc. The Provider Network will allow these amazing individuals to connect with others, and others to connect with them. We're so excited about the possibilities this program holds for those who resonate with, and love, the CwG material, and those who want to explore it further in their own homes and communities. It's time we get to know one another!
Hope all of you have a great week ahead and again please consider becoming a contributor and keeping the Foundation healthy for all of those who want more of an experience of CwG.
Love and Light,
Marion Martin, Executive Director
You know that the world is living on the edge of its chair religiously when the conversion of a Muslim to Christianity makes headlines. Of course, the way it was done was designed to create headlines, but still...should this really be international news?
The Associated Press reported yesterday that "A prominent Italian Muslim," Egyptian-born Magdi Allam, described by the AP as "an iconoclastic writer who has condemned Islamic extremism and defended Israel," has converted to Catholicism.
The conversion would hardly have been noticed had it not been commemorated with a baptism by the Pope at yesterday's annual Vatican Easter Service.
"As a choir sang Saturday night, Pope Benedict XVI poured holy water over Allam's head and said a brief prayer in Latin," the AP report said.
I'm not sure why both the Pope and this well known Italian writer chose to place this decision before Muslims worldwide in this way. Mr. Allam has already angered Muslims with his writing in books and newspaper columns
In the past he has criticized Palestinian suicide bombings-a stance that brought him death threats from Hamas which, he said, in turn inspired him to write a book titled Long Live Israel.
Allam in the past has described himself as a non-observant Muslim, and has a Roman Catholic wife, with whom he has a young son. He has two adult children from a previous relationship.
One spokesperson for Italy's observant Muslim community, Yahya Pallavicini, was reported by the Associated Press yesterday as saying that he "respected Allam's choice, but said he was 'perplexed' by the symbolic and high-profile way in which he chose to convert."
The AP story, in turn, quoted a report from the ANSA news agency in which Mr. Pallavicini was quoted: "If Allam truly was compelled by a strong spiritual inspiration, perhaps it would have been better to do it delicately."
Sitting here on the sidelines, I wonder if Mr. Pallavicini might have been right. What could have been the purpose of this oh-so-public display?
But, I think, of even more interest is the question: Why should it have attracted so much attention one way or the other? Who cares if the Pope baptizes a non-practicing Musllim? Or a non-practicing Jew? Or a non-practicing Hindu, or Buddhist, or member of the Ba'ha'ii faith, for that matter? Why should it make headlines across the world?
The answer is that right now the entire global community is walking on eggshells around this issue of religion. No one wants to offend anyone else-least of all, radical fundamentalist Muslims, who have demonstrated a tendency to burn down buildings and wreak havoc around the world when they feel insulted.
The government in The Netherlands is now under fire for allowing a movie producer to release a controversial film produced by a Dutch politician. Muslims say that it reflects insulting views about the Holy Qu'ran.
Fox News has reported that Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in Iran, "promised widespread protests and a review of Iran's relationship with the Netherlands if Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders' work is shown."
The Fox News report quoted, in turn, a report from IRNA, the official Iranian news agency, in which Boroujerdi is quoted as saying, "If Holland will allow the broadcast of this movie, the Iranian parliament will request to reconsider our relationship with it. In Iran, insulting Islam is a very sensitive matter and if the movie is broadcasted it will arouse a wave of popular hate that will be directed towards any government that insults Islam."
In the Fox News report Wilders calls his 10-minute film "a call to shake off the creeping tyranny of Islamicization, " and said it could air as early as this week on Dutch television.
Oh boy, here we go again. Why can't we just find a way to get along? What is making us do all these things? And why must some of us become so personally and deeply insulted over such matters? Can we not live and let live?
