"Applying the Message
... everything to do with intentions."
Neale Donald Walsch 1998
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I was a child, I was told that love means thinking of others first.  Then Conversations with God said I should always put myself first.  Could this be right?  How could I reconcile this with my earlier life teachings?
The answer is that everything has to do with intentions.  If it is your intention in life to live the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever held about who you are, and if that vision of yourself is that you are loving, caring, generous, kind, compassionate, and truthful, then you will behave towards others in a way which could look like you are putting them first.  The difference is that you will be doing this not for others, but for yourself...because this is simply who you are.
When we do things for others (or imagine that this is what we are doing), two insidious attitudes can appear:  Expectation and Resentment.  We may begin to expect that those for whom we are doing things now "owe" us, and we may experience growing resentment if they don't "pay up."
On the other hand, when we do things for ourselves (even if that results in nice things happening for others), it will be difficult to move into Expectation, and virtually impossible to build up Resentment...unless we clearly do not understand the nature of what is occurring.  That is, unless we ignore or deny that we are doing something for ourselves, and actually convince ourselves that we are doing it for another.
In truth, everything you do, you do for yourself, because every act is an act of self-definition.  All of life is a process of deciding Who You Are.  Your purpose is to experience that, and to recreate yourself anew in the next grandest version of it.  This is called Evolution.
So think of yourself first at every moment of decision.  Think of Who You Are, and of what you are trying to become.  Make the highest choice about that - paint the greatest picture you could ever imagine of Who You Are in every place ad circumstance - and all the rest will take care of itself.
Hello Everyone~
We apologize for not putting out a bulletin last week, but with all our energies going into our Annual Holiday Retreat and Ashland New Year's Eve festivities, we didn't feel like we could deliver a quality product to you, so we skipped an issue.
Now everyone has returned home from the retreat, and our Life Change and Life Mission students are deeply immersed in their onsite training program here in Ashland. Line spacing is off on my screen for these 3 lines and I can't change it.
We ended up doing a 3-day Emotional Freedom Workshop tagged on to the Holiday Retreat because we had so many participants ready and willing to take their own personal work to another level.  It was just fantastic.
In this month's Newsletter we'll be featuring photos and participant articles about this year's Holiday Retreat.
We have also just now posted registration for our next 5-day intensive on the www.cwg.org - Celebrate Yourself Retreat with Neale Donald Walsch.  This retreat will take place in Tampa, Florida - April 9th thru April 13th at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center, 2701 E Fowler Avenue, Tampa, Florida, 33612, Phone: 813-971-4710.
While the name of the retreat is the same, we assure you each and every event that Neale and the Foundation conducts is as diverse and unique as the individuals in attendance.  After years of producing these events, I can personally guarantee you that this one will be a magical, deeply impactful, life shifting experience for each of you who chooses to join us.  We'd be so honored if you'd come!
I hope all of you are stepping into this new year with a grand vision of an even greater version of who you really are for 2008.
Many Blessings,
Marion Black, Executive Director
Some Random Thoughts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here is a sampling of thoughts from the pages of the CwG Books 1, 2, & 3.

Each quotation includes a page reference number, so that you may refer back to the original text.  If the thought seems unusually useful, we hope that you will do just that. In this way you can turn the books into a practical tool for everyday living.

It is not God's function to create or uncreate the circumstances and conditions of your life.  God created You, in the image and likeness of God.  You have created the rest.
     Pg. 13, Book 1

The fastest way to stop hiding out is to tell the truth.  To everyone.  All the time.
     Pg. 3, Book 2

"Justice" is not something you experience after you act a certain way, but because you act a certain way.  Justice is an act, not punishment for an act.
     Pg. 153, Book 3

Kid Contributors Needed

In the new Celebrations Newsletter - we have a new section called Kid's Corner - we need articles from children to go with each month's magazine theme.

The theme for January is "Renewal" and for February is "Love". If you have a special little person in your life we’d love to hear from them.

Please submit all articles in a Microsoft Word format with a picture of the child attached if possible to marion@cwg.org. We will not disclose the child's full name or where they are from for obvious security reasons.
